Coinbase has denied reports of a hack, saying customer funds were safe after a security incident at analytics provider Amplitude exposed some users’ contact information.
The Nasdaq-listed cryptocurrency exchange attributed the exposure to its external vendor and said it had found no evidence of unauthorized access to Coinbase systems.
The crypto exchange described the affected information as a “small subset” of customer contact data.
It said the incident also affected other Amplitude customers.
Coinbase said that it was notifying affected customers and regulatory agencies in line with its legal obligations.

Scope of contact data exposure remains unclear
Coinbase did not specify how many customers were affected or specified which contact-data fields were exposed.
The disclosure highlights supply-chain risks, meaning customer information can be exposed through third parties even when an exchange’s core infrastructure remains secure.
While customer funds remain safe, contact information can help scammers target users with messages impersonating customer support or security alerts.
Coinbase explicitly warns users that fraudulent emails can be spoofed to look exactly like they are coming from legitimate addresses.
The company advises users to verify account concerns directly through the Coinbase app or website.
