Bitcoin options market faces $10.8 billion monthly expiration tomorrow

Deribit faces approximately $10.83 billion in Bitcoin options expiring on Friday, October 30, 2026.

Deribit faces approximately $10.83 billion in Bitcoin options expiring on Friday, October 30, 2026, according to PerpFinder.

Data collected from PerpFinder at 06:37 UTC on October 29 showed approximately $7.10 billion in call open interest and $3.73 billion in puts. The put-to-call open interest ratio was 0.53.

These figures include Deribit’s Bitcoin inverse options, which settle in BTC. They exclude USDC options and contracts traded on other exchanges.

The contracts are set to expire at 08:00 UTC. According to Deribit’s contract rules, monthly expirations on the last Friday of each month are scheduled.

For comparison, Bitcoin contracts expiring on October 29 held $332.8 million in open interest, far below Friday’s total.

Open interest tracks active positions, with PerpFinder pricing dollar notional value using contract volume and expiry forward prices. This figure omits premiums, margin, and settlement payouts.

Deribit uses the relevant index’s time-weighted average between 07:30 and 08:00 UTC to calculate the final delivery price. In-the-money options are exercised automatically, with inverse Bitcoin options paying settlement proceeds in BTC.

Deribit also notes that margin rules remain subject to change prior to expiration.

Seeing more call options doesn’t automatically mean the market is going up. Open interest can’t tell what traders are thinking or where prices will go next.

Plus, as prices shift before expiration, that overall dollar value will keep changing.
