Trump-backed World Liberty Financial has announced a new buyback program for its WLFI governance token after a sharp post-election decline.
Since the U.S. midterm elections, WLFI has fallen about 10% and more than 60% in 2026, Reuters reported.
The announcement followed a weaker-than-expected Republican performance in the elections.

In its announcement, the company said an initial funding allocation could include revenue earned on reserves backing its USD1 stablecoin, alongside other sources.
We plan to fund buybacks with an initial allocation that may include fees earned from USD1 reserves and other sources. We’ll start with an initial allocation and evaluate the program over time, said WLFI.
The company has framed the program as a way to encourage holders to participate in governance and increase long-term holders’ voting influence. It said the buybacks were intended to become an ongoing part of its long-term strategy.
According to the project’s website, WLFI holders can propose, review, and vote on platform decisions.
The company did not disclose in its announcement whether repurchased tokens would be burned, held in a treasury, or distributed. This leaves the program’s eventual impact on circulating supply and governance weights uncertain.
Co-founded in 2024 by Donald Trump, his three sons, and their business partners, World Liberty is 38% owned by the Trump family.
