Strategy Buys 950 Bitcoin, Repurchases $174 Million in STRC Shares

Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, bought 950 BTC during the week ending September 20.

Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, bought 950 BTC during the week ending September 20, and repurchased $174 million in STRC preferred shares.

The purchase brought Strategy’s total holdings to 846,000 BTC, according to its September 21 disclosure.

The purchase cost the company about $75.7 million at an average price of roughly $79,670 per Bitcoin. Strategy acquired its total Bitcoin position for about $63.8 billion at an average cost of about $75,416 per coin.

The latest purchase follows a two-week period in which Strategy bought no Bitcoin. Its previous purchase came in late August, when it acquired 4,603 BTC for $369.7 million.

Strategy Continues STRC Buybacks

During the same reporting period, Strategy also repurchased about $174 million of STRC, its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch preferred stock.

STRC buyback spending was more than twice the amount spent on Bitcoin.

Strategy spent $139.3 million on STRC buybacks in the previous reporting period, with no Bitcoin purchases.

The latest purchase shows that Strategy remains a Bitcoin buyer, but its capital strategy extends beyond BTC accumulation, as the company also manages the preferred securities used to support its Bitcoin treasury model.
