Citigroup raised its 12-month forecasts for Bitcoin and Ether, citing renewed exchange-traded fund (ETF) inflows, stronger crypto activity, and a more supportive economic backdrop, Reuters reported.
The brokerage increased its price target for Bitcoin to $113,000 from $82,000 and for Ether to $3,028 from $2,240. Its forecasts cover the next 12 months, rather than 2026.
Based on prices as of October 1, 2026, these new targets implied roughly 35% upside for Bitcoin and 12% for Ether, CoinDesk reported.
Citi Expects Gradual Inflows
Citi forecasts $5 billion in crypto inflows over the next 12 months. It expects advisers and brokerages to gradually increase Bitcoin allocation, producing a slower but steadier recovery in investment demand.
The outlook follows a reversal in U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF flows. These funds had accumulated $5.8 billion in net outflows as of July 13, 2026, CoinDesk reported.
In September 2026, ETF inflows turned positive. On September 21, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $999 million in net inflows, while net inflows reached $714.7 million on September 22.
These inflows represent a positive turn from July’s low point.
Regulatory Setback Fails to Halt Recovery
Citi’s forecast comes despite the U.S. Senate failing to advance the Clarity Act in a procedural vote.
The bank said subsequent Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rule announcements helped reduce negative sentiment after that setback.
Citi also linked renewed crypto momentum to a softer dollar after the U.S. Treasury moved to buy back longer-dated bonds.
“The Clarity Act’s failure narrowed the path to a market-structure bill, yet spurred Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rule announcements that dampened negative sentiment,” Citi said.
Reuters reported that Bitcoin and Ether rallied over 40% and 68%, respectively, over the preceding three months, narrowing their year-to-date losses to about 4% and 9%.
Therefore, the revised forecasts follow a substantial market rebound and improving fund flows.
Citi’s stated expectation remains a gradual increase in allocations over the coming year, with its $113,000 Bitcoin target representing a forecast rather than an achieved price.
