PUMP Rallies 12% With Pump.fun Buybacks at $815K, Can $0.00255 Break?

PUMP climbed more than 12% on August 5 as 24-hour trading volume increased over 70%. Pump.fun generated about $1.04 million in protocol revenue over the latest 24 hours, while token buybacks reached roughly $815,000. The rally has pushed PUMP toward $0.00255 resistance, although an August 12 team and investor unlock creates another supply test ahead.

Key Takeaways

  • PUMP rose 12.3% to around $0.00251, while 24-hour trading volume increased 72.4% to roughly $158 million.
  • Pump.fun generated $1.04 million in 24-hour protocol revenue, with DefiLlama tracking $815,052 of PUMP buybacks over the same rolling period.
  • Pump.fun directs roughly half of platform revenue toward open-market PUMP purchases and burns.
  • A scheduled August 12 unlock will release 6.875 billion PUMP, equal to about 1.73% of the current float.

PUMP Rally Brings Trading Activity Back

PUMP returned to the top of crypto market attention on August 5. CoinGecko market data showed the token trading around $0.00251, up 12.3% over 24 hours and nearly 35% over seven days. Its intraday high reached $0.002545.

Trading activity expanded even faster. PUMP generated roughly $158 million in 24-hour volume, a 72.4% increase from the previous day. The latest move also extends a recovery that gathered pace after PUMP closed at $0.00213 on August 3 and $0.00242 on August 4.

The price move coincides with another strong revenue period for Pump.fun, bringing the token's buyback mechanism back into focus.

Pump.fun Revenue Keeps Feeding PUMP Buybacks

DefiLlama's live Pump.fun data shows the platform generated $1.04 million in protocol revenue over the latest 24 hours and $6.31 million over seven days. The same dashboard records $815,052 in 24-hour "holders revenue," which DefiLlama defines as PUMP token buybacks tracked through on-chain burns.

Pump.fun's official PUMP token page says roughly half of platform revenue is used to purchase PUMP on the open market and burn it. The page reports 153.73 billion PUMP permanently burned through the mechanism so far, equal to about 15.4% of the original 1 trillion token supply.

This gives platform revenue a direct route into spot-market PUMP purchases and supply reduction. The latest rally still cannot be attributed solely to those buybacks, but the mechanism creates a measurable link between Pump.fun activity and its token.

The current system builds on the much larger supply reduction covered in our April 29 PUMP analysis, when Pump.fun burned previously repurchased tokens worth roughly $370 million.

August 12 Unlock Creates the Next Supply Test

Buybacks are only one side of PUMP's supply picture. DefiLlama's token unlock schedule shows 6.875 billion PUMP scheduled to unlock on August 12. The release includes 4.167 billion tokens allocated to the team and 2.708 billion for existing investors. Together, they represent about 1.73% of the current circulating float.

An unlock makes those tokens transferable. It does not establish that recipients will sell them. Still, the additional liquid supply creates a useful test for the buyback thesis because recurring token purchases will operate alongside continued vesting.

That tension becomes more relevant while PUMP is already testing its strongest price level in more than a week.

PUMP Technical Analysis on the 4-Hour Chart

PUMP Price Prediciton 05 Aug 26

PUMP has accelerated sharply from the low-$0.0020 area and is now challenging $0.00255, which closely matches the August 5 intraday high.

The rally has also moved price decisively above $0.00240. That level now provides the first support test. Holding it on 4-hour closes would show that buyers are maintaining the latest expansion rather than immediately giving back the breakout.

A completed 4-hour close above $0.00255 would establish a fresh short-term high and strengthen the continuation structure. The next upside area sits around $0.00275, although that level should only carry weight if buyers first establish acceptance above current resistance.

Failure to hold $0.00240 would weaken the breakout and bring $0.00220 back into focus. A deeper loss of $0.00210 would invalidate the current recovery structure and return PUMP toward the range that contained price before this week's advance.

Momentum currently favors buyers, but $0.00255 remains the level that decides whether the 12% move develops into a wider breakout.

What to Expect Next

  • Bullish case: A 4-hour close above $0.00255 strengthens continuation toward $0.00275.
  • Bearish case: Losing $0.00240 exposes $0.00220 and weakens the latest breakout.
  • Key catalyst: Continued Pump.fun revenue and buyback activity as the August 12 token unlock approaches.
  • Invalidation: A completed 4-hour close below $0.00210 invalidates the current recovery structure.

FAQ

Do PUMP holders receive Pump.fun revenue?

No. PUMP does not give holders a direct claim on platform revenue. Pump.fun uses part of its revenue to purchase tokens from the open market and burn them, reducing supply through the buyback mechanism.

What happens when 6.875 billion PUMP unlocks on August 12?

The tokens become transferable, but an unlock does not mean they will automatically be sold. The release increases liquid supply and could become more relevant if recipients move large amounts to exchanges.
