Trueo to Move From Base to Ethereum, Drawing Vitalik Buterin’s Support

On-chain prediction market protocol Trueo plans to move its primary deployment from Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network, to Ethereum mainnet, pursuing broader integration opportunities and improving dispute resolution.

Trueo launched on Coinbase’s Layer 2 network, Base, in March 2025. In its September 21, 2026, announcement, Trueo said Base suited its experimental launch as Ethereum mainnet fees were elevated at the time.

“The final form of Trueo is to be a platform that is widely adopted, broadly integrated, fully permissionless, mostly immutable, and highly credible. Ethereum is the best fit for this combination of properties,” the team said.

Vitalik Buterin Welcomes Ethereum Move

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin welcomed Trueo’s planned migration to Ethereum mainnet.

“Glad to see that Ethereum L1 will have a new strong prediction market contender that is dedicated to decentralization, and being ethical and not corposlop, and to actually trying to do interesting and meaningful things with this class of economic primitive,” Buterin said in a post on X.

Why Trueo Is Moving to Ethereum

Trueo said Ethereum’s network effects and connections across financial applications offer greater room for growth. The team said its decision reflected Trueo’s long-term goals rather than a negative assessment of Base.

“Ethereum, as a neutral and global financial hub, offers the highest integration potential and product upside,” said Trueo. “Due process in dispute resolution is severely lacking despite the growth of prediction markets over the past five years.”

After migrating to Ethereum mainnet, Trueo will focus on attracting liquidity in key market categories and launching an updated oracle, the system used to determine real-world outcomes for market settlement.

According to Trueo’s announcement, each market’s title, settlement rules, and approved data sources are recorded on-chain when it launches. Trading and order matching also take place on-chain, while an oracle framework handles settlement and allows participants to dispute outcomes.

The team said improving dispute resolution remains a priority for the updated oracle.

“Our ambition is to build prediction markets that people can rely on, including when the outcome is contentious and the stakes are high. That requires immutable contracts, credible dispute resolution, and infrastructure that can operate with progressively less dependence on any single party,” said Trueo.

What Happens to Base Markets and TRUE Tokens?

Trueo said trading, settlement, and redemptions would continue during the migration. Existing Base markets that remain open after the transition will still be accessible through its official application and retain their current resolution system.

The team said its broader development roadmap would remain unchanged.

The team advised users against opening new Base markets expiring after January 31, 2027. Instead, create longer-dated markets on Ethereum once that deployment becomes available.

TRUE will remain the protocol’s native token. The team said holders can migrate it to Ethereum without a deadline, while future staking and liquidity incentives will run on mainnet.
