Senator Bernie Moreno Reveals the US CLARITY Act Could Pass by April
According to Senator Bernie Moreno, the US CLARITY Act could pass Congress as early as April. Speaking to CNBC during an interview at US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, Moreno said the lawmakers are close to resolving the remaining disagreements and the bill could pass “hopefully by April.” The CLARITY Act is a long-awaited legislation designed to bring regulatory clarity to the American crypto industry.
Lawmakers Collaborate with Crypto Industry Leaders
The interview follows discussions at the World Liberty Financial (WLF) crypto forum, which was attended by Senator Moreno, the CEO of Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, and representatives from the crypto sector, Congress, and banks. Armstrong said compromises are emerging after earlier concerns over provisions that would ban interest-bearing stablecoins and grant the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) primary oversight of the industry.
He said, “A win for the crypto industry, a win for the banks, and a win for the American consumer to get President Trump’s crypto agenda through to the finish line, so we can make America the crypto capital of the world.”
Moreno acknowledged that disagreements around stablecoin rewards had slowed progress but said those issues “shouldn’t be part of this equation.” He added that political shifts after the midterm elections are unlikely to derail the bill.
