Deutsche Bank (DB) plans to expand its crypto services into Asian financial centers in 2027 as it prepares to launch in Germany within weeks. The bank has not yet identified its first Asian markets.
Gerald Podobnik, co-head of Deutsche Bank’s corporate bank, outlined the expansion to Reuters.
“The move forms part of Deutsche Bank’s broader strategy to achieve compound annual growth of 8% in corporate banking by 2028,” said Podobnik
The German banking giant also plans to offer stablecoin conversion, tokenized deposits, and services to help clients issue digital bonds and other blockchain-based securities.

Bitcoin, Ether, and Stablecoin at Launch
The service could let corporate and institutional clients hold and transfer selected digital assets. Deutsche Bank will manage wallets and private keys, reducing the need for clients to run their own custody systems.
Initially, the service will support Bitcoin, Ether, and the stablecoins USDC, EURC, and EURAU. The initial European offering targets companies, asset managers, hedge funds, custodians, brokers, and sovereign institutions.
“I believe that, as the financial system, we will need to offer tokenized or blockchain solutions to our clients as additional services alongside our traditional ones, but not necessarily to replace what we are doing today,” Podobnik said.
Beyond custody, Deutsche Bank plans services allowing clients to move money into and out of mainstream stablecoins. Reuters also reported plans for tokenized deposits and help issuing blockchain-based securities, including digital bonds.
Podobnik described blockchain services as additions to traditional banking. The roadmap would extend the bank’s offering from safeguarding crypto assets to payments and securities issuance, though those services are still planned.
