Key Takeaways

  • Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay will support USDC transfers on Solana for qualified U.S. Galaxy users to facilitate cross-border payments.
  • The rollout begins in the last week of October across 82 million compatible U.S. Galaxy devices.
  • For external wallet transfers, Samsung will not charge fees, while bank payments carry separate fees.

Samsung will launch USDC transfers on Solana for eligible Galaxy users in the U.S. in the last week of October 2026, as the South Korean tech giant continues expanding its crypto-related services.

In a statement released October 8, Samsung said that Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay will support USDC transfers on Solana. Integrated services will convert between digital dollars and local currencies, which allows users to send payments from the interface they already use for payment cards and boarding passes.

“Sending money abroad should feel as convenient as using the wallet already on your phone,” said Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of the Digital Wallet Team at the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “We’re bringing USDC transfers into Samsung Wallet so eligible Galaxy users can get started without installing another app or managing private keys themselves.”

The rollout will cover 82 million compatible Galaxy devices in the United States. This figure describes the potential device reach, rather than registered users or confirmed adoption.

Wallet Transfers and Bank Payments

Samsung said eligible users will be able to send USDC, a dollar-dominated stablecoin, to compatible external crypto wallets, with Solana’s and Sui’s infrastructure operating behind the scenes.

The company will charge no transfer fee for that route, although recipient wallets or exchanges may impose charges. Transfer speeds will depend on blockchain conditions.

“For a decade, stablecoins have proved the technology works,” said Lily Liu, President, Solana Foundation. “What they lacked was a way to reach the mainstream. Samsung’s decision to work with Solana puts digital dollars into everyday life through one of the world’s most trusted technology brands. This level of adoption is what we built Solana for, and we’re seeing the moment when stablecoins stop being a crypto product and start being how people move money.”

The wallet will support payments to qualifying bank accounts in more than 60 countries, with recipients receiving funds in local currency. Those transfers will carry fees that vary by destination and amount, with costs and estimated delivery times displayed before confirmation.

Custody and Eligibility

Bastion will provide the cross-border payment framework, while Coinbase will safeguard USDC through Coinbase Prime Vault as Bastion’s sub-custodian.

Access requires eligible U.S. residents to be at least 18, hold a Samsung Account, and use a compatible device running Android 13 or later. Identity verification and biometric authentication are mandatory.

Users will not need to install another crypto app or manage private keys themselves.

The integration also extends Samsung’s Coinbase collaboration. Last year, Samsung and Coinbase expanded their partnership to let U.S. Galaxy users fund their Coinbase accounts with Samsung Pay.

Samsung said features in the future could include online and in-store stablecoin payments, alongside expansion into additional markets as local regulations allow.

These remain potential additions, rather than services included in the initial launch.
